Group Scheduling Manager

The primary role of the group scheduling manager is to introduce consistent scheduling management globally across QinetiQ. This will be achieved through the application of global policies, processes, working instructions, training, tools and templates in support of the QinetiQ Global operating model and the One QinetiQ method of delivery.


This role will:

  • create the scheduling capability across QinetiQ
  • Lead the scheduling working group globally
  • Develop scheduling techniques to satisfy projects with differing complexity, scope and value
  • Attend and speak at internal and external conferences
  • Define the requirements of a global scheduling toolset (scheduling and integrity capabilities), and lead on its introduction across QinetiQ globally including tool training.
  • Organise training globally for Project management staff across QinetiQ in best practice scheduling techniques
  • Lead and or be part of an IBR team
  • Attend and present at the PM Council as required.
  • Coaching and mentoring of scheduling staff.
  • Attend reviews with the functions and business units globally across QinetiQ
  • Run and or be part of deep dives into projects globally across QinetiQ


Key Accountabilities:

  • Supporting the Programme Directors and the Head of PMO and Delivery to ensure that they have the right scheduling capabilities and competencies to deliver the QinetiQ growth strategy.
  • Effectively lead the scheduling working group, manage stakeholder and publish artefacts globally.
  • Own the policies, procedures and tools for scheduling globally across QinetiQ
  • Introduce LFE across all phases of the delivery lifecycle
  • Introduce tool agnostic scheduling training globally across the PM community in QinetiQ
  • Support the internal and external profile of QinetiQ as a professional project organisation.
  • Operating across QinetiQ and working with the Programme Directors in a collaborative manner
  1. Position and align PM capability with strategy, to improve productivity and reduce costs.
  2. Lead lunchtime learning sessions
  3. Provide thought leadership to explore and challenge existing practice and culture to develop alternative innovative interventions and create an environment of Continuous Improvement (CI).
  • Creation and attendance at the special interest groups (SIG) across PM in QinetiQ.
  • Develop and support scheduling specific training needs as requested by the business units.
  • Undertake such delegated duties as may be decided by the Programme Director.
  • Lead the scheduling community globally across QinetiQ
  • Support the setup and mobilisation of bids and projects from a scheduling perspective

  • Practical knowledge of Microsoft PPM Server and Primavera P6
  • Full lifecycle experience of scheduling from proposal to closure.
  • Teamwork; being able to create an environment where a group of people with diverse personalities, skills, experiences and perspectives are empowered to collaborate towards a common goal.
  • Human Resource Management; supporting functional teams (including HR) to develop and manage our people in line with legal requirements and QinetiQ policy.
  • Knowledge of Project management, latest ideas, trends, processes and tools.
  • Able to present both internally and externally at conferences, leadership events and channels.


Experience & Qualifications:

  • Able to lead on scheduling initiatives globally across QinetiQ.
  • Experience of change management and associated consulting skills.
  • A background in project delivery management of functional management
  • Strong people, stakeholder and influencing skills
  • Confident and articulate with well-developed communication, facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Able to quickly establish personal and professional credibility, influence people and drive change
  • A creative strategic thinker focused on delivering results.
