An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electromagnetic Scientist to join a leading Global Defence Technology & Security organisation. You will work within the Applied Sciences unit based at their site in Farnborough, Hampshire.

 

Overall Purpose of the Job Role

To provide electromagnetic modelling and measurement support into the RF Stealth Technologies teams.

 

Key Accountabilities

The job holder is accountable for:

  • Assisting with the delivery of RF research project across a range of EM disciplines (e.g. stealth, antenna design etc.) projects within the RF team.
  • Assisting with RF characterisation of test pieces for a range of projects.
  • Completing EM modelling tasks under the supervision of technical leads within the RF teams.
  • Assist in developing trials plans and ensuring trials are able to run safely and complete their trials objectives.
  • Complete directed technical work within projects to a timeframe and budget.
  • Provide accurate estimations of effort required to deliver project work to assist with bidding work within the IDT.

 

Knowledge, Experience and Skills Required

  1. Understanding of Electromagnetic modelling techniques and experience performing EM modelling with commercially available software (e.g. CST Microwave Studio).
  2. Understanding of the principles of RF experimental design including areas such as calibration and error analysis.
  3. Demonstrate good interpersonal, influencing, analytical and team working skills, and be able to exchange ideas and information effectively in a concise and logical way.
  4. Demonstrate effective communication skills with the ability to tailor the information to your audience.

 

Qualifications Required

  1. Degree or equivalent in Physics (or related discipline)
  2. Desirable – PhD in a related discipline.
