Supply Chain Manager

Role Purpose
The role is positioned with Group Supply Chain & Procurement, Manufacturing & Disruptive Technologies area with responsibility for leading procurement activities and developing supply chain solutions on behalf of our Integrated Delivery Teams; working closely with internal project teams, external suppliers and partners.

This role is positioned within the IDT Procurement team based in Farnborough.


The primary requirement of the role is to provide Procurement & Supply Chain leadership, development and delivery of Customer awarded programmes across all of QinetiQ’s business units. 


Key Accountabilities
•    The Supply Chain Manager will closely liaise with the programme team for the assigned product portfolio
•    The Supply Chain Manager will conduct initial view of Supply market, examine opportunity vs risks, conduct Route to Market analysis, conduct Supplier due diligences, conduct supply chain assurance and prepare supplier readiness plan, form Make Vs Buy strategy, develop potential supply partners profile, develop sourcing strategy, Initiate RFQ, and down select potential suppliers etc.
•    The Supply Chain Manager will support the Programme Manager and the BD commercial team with all formal Pre-Bid Procurement activities in line with the GSC&P Service Lines.
•    The role shall provide end to end Supply Chain advice, raw material sourcing, supply assurance, delivery, supply chain management and procurement against requirements.
•    In contract supplier management
•    Efficient & effective day to day management of supply chain in support of Customer bidding and QinetiQ programmes
•    The Supply Chain Manager will develop supply chain network map, develop supplier readiness plan and de-risk supply chain risks, develop negotiation plan, flow down customer requirements, place contracts, on-boarding suppliers, and execute supply chain delivery plan, etc.
•    The Supply Chain Manager will support team with contractual queries, flow down of DEFCONs, contract amendments, support engineering team in refining BOM and improving supplier quality standards, support team to procure BOM, and support miscellaneous procurement activities etc.
•    The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for all post-contract SRM activities.
•    Providing strategic/functional development and execution of business strategies 
•    Stakeholder management (internal and external).
•    Management planning of current and future workload. 
•    Harnessing innovative solutions from existing and future supply chain partners.


Key Capabilities/Knowledge
•    Relevant knowledge & experience of procurement and prime contract management (Essential)
•    Confident in communicating, influencing and building relationships with cross-functional colleagues, suppliers and business stakeholders 

•    Problem solving ability, detail oriented and ability to manage multiple tasks. (Essential)
•    Managing prime contract interfaces, risk mitigation and flexibility within supply chain including, supplier sourcing and leverage to deliver improvement, quality, performance, innovation and cost reduction.
•    Be a self-starter and be able to represent the procurement function 
•    Delivery and achievement focused, managing conflicting priorities whilst working at pace
•    Highly customer focused and motivated by exceeding customer expectations
•    Independent worker with high degree of professionalism and integrity.
•    Proven contract negotiation skills in both a strategic relationship and sourcing environment
•    Experienced in the delivery of Strategic Sourcing & Supply Chain Management
•    Knowledge and understanding of procurement systems and infrastructure


Experience & Qualifications

Educational Qualifications:
•    Business, IT, Finance, Supply Chain Management or Engineering; higher-level education or degree qualification preferred
Professional Qualifications:
•    MCIPS or equivalent professional qualification preferred

Working Experience:
•    5+ yrs experience of working within Procurement / Supply Chain Management
•    Procurement experience in a project management environment
•    Proven experience of Contract drafting and negotiation skills
•    Knowledge of procurement systems and infrastructure. 
•    Knowledge & prior experience of strategic bidding and business development.
