About the role
QinetiQ are looking for a Systems Engineer to join the Maritime Test, Evaluation, Training and Tactics team conducting technical activities to integrate new and existing noise ranging systems, as well as providing advice that will directly impact defence operations.
As a Systems Engineer you will typically assist within development projects, but may find yourself leading specific areas or the development of sub-systems, with appropriate supervision. The role will require you to be involved in a broad application of systems engineering knowledge, from the establishing of user needs through to final delivery. Typically you will work across a number of these areas and develop strong whole lifecycle experience.
We offer flexible working from our site in Farnborough and from home as well as the opportunity to travel within the UK and abroad.
Potential Projects Include
- Sonar systems and underwater acoustics.
- Electromagnetic measurement systems.
- Underwater and/or littoral environments.
What will I be doing?
- You will undertake technical work activities within a systems engineering context.
- The Systems Engineer will be working as part of a technical team in support of project objectives.
- You will be responsible for the production of technical documentation in support of work carried out.
- The Systems Engineer will deliver work and reports on progress to more senior technical and project staff.
- You will escalate problems and issues encountered with supervisory staff.
What do I need?
- You must have a basic understanding of systems engineering, its applicability, lifecycle processes, and systems considerations
- The Systems Engineer must have some understanding of broad engineering considerations.
