QinetiQ, Inc. is seeking an experienced Spectral Analyst to support work at our Fort Belvoir, VA location. The selected candidate will support field testing and analysis of new spectral imaging technologies and will support various tasks with the use of spectral devices.

 

Your Contribution to the Mission:

  • Signature collection using spectral instrumentation
  • Signature analysis of target and background signatures
  • Data and image processing
  • Test support to include reviewing test plans and generating test reports
  • Field support to include traveling CONUS, and possibly OCONUS
    • Packing equipment
    • Sensor Integration
    • Sensor operation
    • In-field data analysis to ensure data quality is high
  • Generating final data reports to include
    • Post-Processing image cubes using basic hyperspectral imaging (HSI) algorithms and developmental detection algorithms
    • Analyzing the performance of developmental detection algorithms
  • Presenting reports and briefings to government team members and senior leaders

 

 

To Land this Job, You'll Need :

 

  • A Bachelor's or higher degree in physics, electrical engineering, optical engineering, or similar field of study
  • 3-5 years minimum of HSI experience (design, develop, operation, data analysis, etc.)
  • 1 year experience with HSI data analysis
  • Software Experience – ENVI, C++, and MATLAB
  • Experience in the following:
    • Applying a gain/offset
    • Converting from Radiance to Reflectance
    • Applying atmospheric correction
    • Understanding basic HSI analysis tools/algorithms such as Adaptive-Cosine Estimator (ACE), Principle Components, Spectral Angle Mapping (SAM)
    • Spectral signature analysis
      1. In-scene detection of a target – Create a region of interest (ROI) of part of the scene, extract the signature, locate similar targets in the scene
      2. Band selection – Analyze target and background signatures to determine which bands are most optimal for designing a system
  • Preferred, but not required, experience with other sensing modalities – polarimetric, LiDAR, and other active imaging are preferred
  • Preferred, but not required, field experience and data collection
  • Minimum Secret Clearance is required
