QinetiQ Inc. is seeking a Business Development Director for our Survivability business unit. Responsibilities include identifying, qualifying, and capturing new business opportunities in passive, active and emerging survivability markets. The BD Director will contribute to the prioritization of new business pursuits and the development of marketing plans and capture strategies. Additional duties include providing sound guidance and strategy around business investments and priorities for new product development. The BD Director will build and maintain close relationships with DEVCOM-GVSC, Aircraft, ground vehicle OEM’s and other organizations to identify, qualify and create new business opportunities with existing and emerging technologies.


The BD Director will develop and maintain close, trusted partner relationships with offices of senior military and civilian US Government customers, current and prospective customers, as well as industry partners and suppliers. The BD Director will be able to assist customers in meeting their requirements and capability gaps with those capabilities, products, and technologies available or being developed in the global QinetiQ organization.  The position will coordinate with engineering personnel in preparing, editing, and presenting briefings or hosting discussions with customers, highlighting QinetiQ capabilities and solutions against customer requirements and capability shortfalls. The position will also support the Business Areas through attendance at Industry Days, Symposiums, Professional Events, Conferences, and TradeShows.

Your Contribution to Our Mission:

  • Collaborating with Survivability business unit operations, Technology Solutions and Corporate leadership on strategic campaigns and growth plans to enhance captures and meet if not exceed business objectives.
  • Identifying and capturing key strategic opportunities by leveraging current technologies, customer intimacies, and inter-company collaboration, especially with our global QinetiQ companies.
  • Developing and executing strategic and tactical plans for the pursuit and successful capture of key opportunities.
  • Support major capture activities.
  • Obtaining marketing intelligence and competitive data pertaining to potential targeted pursuits and develop marketing strategies.
  • Participating in bid decisions, development of cost strategies and phase reviews.
  • Establishing, building, and maintaining customer relationships and assess competitor capabilities aligned to specific customers in the intelligence community.
  • Supporting the creation and execution of multi-year business development strategies.
  • Leading strategic captures including creating RFI responses, white papers and other shaping activities.
  • Contributing to the assessment and modification as well as implementation of tools and documentation for business processes including Business Development (BD), Pursuit to Capture (PC), Proposal Process, Pipeline Management, etc..
  • Overseeing the existing Deltek GovWin Opportunity IQ, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and contracts framework integrated with Sharepoint-based KMS.
  • Applying best business practices and processes to include CM, Shipley, SMA, and other models for opportunity identification, qualification, and capture management.
  • Effectively coordinating support with Finance, Contracts, Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, and Security.


To Land This Job, You Need:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree
  • Conversant with threats, standards, ballistic resistant materials and armor systems
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant Business Development and/or customer mission experiences.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully leading marketing, business development, and sales activities with survivability customers and products with at least $50M in revenues.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the rules, regulations, and laws governing the Federal Government procurement practice as well as contract vehicles.
  • Ability to analyze, assess and evaluate emerging technologies in Survivability and their probability of success in the U.S. and global market.
  • Excellent organizational, management, analytic, and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
  • Proven performance establishing strategy, objectives and action plans.
  • Experience presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
