As a result of continued business growth, we are currently looking for a Deputy Chief Engineer – Software and Networked Systems to join our business in Adelaide



The Role


This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to develop and sustain a world class, innovative engineering capability that is trusted by our clients. The successful applicant will be charged with leading the Software and Networked Systems capability areas to meet the challenges of QinetiQ’s growth strategy in these domains. Consistently delivering high quality products and assuring their safety and quality is a key requirement of the role.


This exciting new role will:


  • Provide technical leadership and assurance to the organisations software and networked systems domains. 
  • Lead a culture of strong technical assurance and safety, whilst providing technical supervision, mentoring, professional growth and skill development to staff at all levels of experience and expertise.
  • Lead and/or conduct engineering tasks of high complexity.
  • Ensure technical capability requirements are met in a sustainable manner via a robust capability management process encompassing the competency program and technical training.
  • Require a strong people focus, supporting our highly engaged culture, demonstrating our values, promoting diversity and inclusion and contributing to initiatives which support the attraction and retention of capability
  • Maintain and build strong customer and partner and relevant regulator relationships  to support resolution of technical matters.
  • Work with the Chief Engineer and Quality Manager to ensure technical and engineering management processes enable achievement of business requirements in an effective and efficient manner. 



About You


You will:

  • Be driven to achieve growth targets and build meaningful relationships across our organisation globally, with our partners and customers


The position will require the following qualifications & experience:

  • Educated to degree standard or above in software engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Postgraduate level qualified, within Systems Engineering / Test and Evaluation / Digital Engineering or technical specialist field strongly preferred.
  • Suitably experienced and qualified to achieve CPEng with Engineers Australia or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 8 years experience (in Defence Industry preferred) with significant demonstrated competence in an engineering leadership role.



*Candidates MUST be eligible to obtain an NV1 Defence security clearance*
