Our team based at MOD Hebrides Ranges are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated person for the position of Engineering Support Lead. You will work as part of the Engineering Team and be responsible to the site Engineering Manager.

 

Responsibilities would include:

  • Management of Hebrides Change Control Process (CCP) which manages any changes to the existing equipment and infrastructure baseline. This includes initial review of change applications prior to dissemination ensuring accuracy and advising on any required improvements. Ensuring all installations are as per installation design plan and baseline drawings have been submitted and are accurate prior to CCP closure.
  • Technical support to all range investments, including Requirement Specifications, Support each phase of project ensuring proposals and integration work comply with applicable policy.
  • Oversight of current equipment and infrastructure baseline, implementing periodic checks to ensure baseline integrity.
  • Act as Site Coordinating Installation Design Authority (SCIDA) – Oversight of design solutions in accordance with MoD publications such as JSP604.
  • Lead on distinct elements as set out by the Site Engineering Manager e.g. compliance aspects, assurance evaluations, contractor RAMS reviews.
  • Building Incident Officer – support monthly Fire Warden Checks, Facility Reviews and emergency response activities.
  • Deputise for Engineering Manager and Maintenance Supervisor when required.
  • Support on-site resource demands via the site resource management tool.
  • Support technical reviews of Engineering Risk Assessments.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Delegated authority for on-site SCIDA.
  • Integrity of Engineering equipment and infrastructure baseline.
  • Support the sites demonstrable compliance to regulation and ISO standards through ownership and leadership of assigned aspects. Through liaison with the Site Engineering Manager, lead on a structured checks and balances regime ensuring records are maintained on the Compliance Assurance Tool (CAT) and the sites repository as necessary.
  • Lead and conduct appropriate Behavioural Observation and/or interventions as part of the Safe 4 Life Workplace Observations programme to monitor the 'what' and 'how' we conduct our work and that of our contractors. Ensure records of such observations are maintained through the Incident Management Reporting system.

 

Role Requirements:

  • Qualifications relevant to electronic/electrical/network engineering such as HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent.
  • Strong engineering background, able to provide advice, assurance and best practice.
  • SCIDA qualification will be required or individual will be prepared to achieve within agreed timeframe.
  • Ability to challenge poor behaviours and make corrective changes in their team and in others.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Travel across Hebrides sites including St Kilda and occasional deployment to other QinetiQ sites.
  • Eligible for full security clearance.


Desirable Experience/Qualifications:

  • Experience in the use of SAP Plant Maintenance of similar.
  • NEBOSH or equivalent
  • HUET Qualified
