QinetiQ is looking to hire a Director of Systems Engineering to lead the development of new technologies aimed at advancing the capabilities of Defense Technology & Solutions. Key responsibilities are listed below:
- Reports to VP Engineering. Serves as primary owner and chief voice of Systems engineering.
- Promulgate robust, repeatable, scalable, systems engineering processes - for developing system requirements, solution architectures, requirements for integration, test, sustainment
- Provide expertise to ensure MBSE processes are appropriately applied to projects - Customer problem characterization, solution development, project engineering management
- Collaborate with Business Development - Properly qualify opportunities with respect to technical feasibility and risk. Assist creating proposal responses in system engineering areas such as solution architecture, engineering processes
- Grow and evolve the SE Directorate - Recruiting and training of SE talents
- Standardize SE tools, procedures, processes, and engineering performance metrics
- Ensure successful execution of all programs from SE and PE’s perspective
- Standardization of Project Setup, Kickoff, Progress Reporting, and Gate Reviews
- Standardize SE tools, procedures, processes, and engineering performance metrics
- Define the path MOSA, design reuse, MBSE and DevSecOps (working with SW, IT and other teams)
- Support in developing technology roadmaps to align with 5-Year C5ISR strategic road map
To Land This Job, You Need:
- BS or MS degree in System Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics and 10 or more years of progressively complex system engineering experience with at least 5 of those years having management responsibilities directly related to RDT&E, new product introduction, design for manufacturing, low rate and full rate production engineering, all related to C5ISR sensor systems, unmanned ground and airborne platforms and payloads, robotics and electronic and Electro-Optics sensor systems.
- Must be a US citizen and able to acquire a DoD secret level clearance.
- Demonstrated extensive technical expertise and application of system engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice as well as project and/or program leadership including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established project deadlines or milestones.
- Must possess demonstrated management experience building and developing teams including hiring, retention, training and mentoring, and administrative management in support of a diverse set of technology and project pursuits, with preference to Electro-Optics Technology.
- Demonstrated technical leadership experience leading a cross-functional project team of technical staff in the development of electronic sensors, subsystem and systems designs associated with electronic sensor systems is required.
- Experience in managing multidisciplinary teams to achieve system level objectives is required.
- Knowledge of Systems Engineering principles is required. Hands on experience with DOORS or SLATE system engineering tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and contribute to the development of new concepts and products; resolve unusually complex technical problems; serve as a system engineering lead and technical expert on overall system solutions.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels of management, professional and support staff, current and potential customers, and government representatives.
- Customer focused, flexibility and ability to formulate plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems.
- Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment.
