QinetiQ Inc. is seeking an experienced Scrum Master to provide servant leadership to teams by employing active listening, empathy, awareness, foresight, stewardship, growth, community building, and nurturing principles at our Lorton, VA facility. 


Your Contribution to the Mission:

  • Lead cross-functional situational awareness, being the first to notice misalignment and issues as they arise and escalate as needed
  • Facilitate a culture of empowerment aimed at reinforcing an ethos of self-organization across teams
  • Strive for continual improvement, always learning about new tools and techniques for managing the scrum process and the team
  • Facilitate sprint ceremonies (planning sessions, stand ups, retrospectives, demos etc…)
  • Removes sprint roadblocks to help ensure completion of team commitments
  • Coach and mentor agile team members on agile standards and best practices
  • Assist product owners in keeping the product backlog refined
  • Strengthen the agile center of excellence and actively contribute to the company’s agile community of practice
  • Maintain relevant team metrics
  • Regularly interact with IT management, product owners and product managers on status, priority setting, and department-wide efforts


To Land This Job, You Need


  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Five or more years of relevant experience
  • Experience leading QA, product review, and release processes
  • Knowledge of Agile methodology and experience leading teams and channeling information between teams and team members in order to keep ahead of blockers and to foster progress
  • Experience enforcing scrum values and processes
  • Experience leading work groups efficiently and concisely, and ensuring that all parties involved are kept in the loop with regard to timing and location of all meetings
  • Being proactive in conflict resolution by leading discussions that quickly unblock team velocity and establish focus back on solving problems for our users
