QinetiQ Inc. is looking to hire an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the design and build of next generation C5ISR systems at our Lorton, VA facility. The selected engineer will work within a matrixed engineering team and will have responsibility in the following areas:


  • Participating and leading engineering teams designing the next generation C5ISR (Command, Control, Computers, Communications, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) systems for the U.S. Military
  • Architect and design new systems / sub-systems for sensor and image processing platforms
  • Support existing systems, system architecture development, PCB design, cable design, or associated documentation tasks
  • Assist in the development of a new system or integration of a new or existing payload on an existing system
  • Develop requirements, test plans, and perform testing
  • Participate in field data collection and experimentation, analysis, and reporting
  • Provide work leadership and training to lower level professional and technical staff
  • Some (<15%) travel to customer sites may be required to support meetings, testing and repair activities


Required Qualifications


  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering plus 5-10 years’ experience.  M.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering Preferred.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Electrical Engineering
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout experience in Altium Designer
  • Analog, digital, and mixed signal circuit design
  • Experience with EE lab tools (digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, function generators, spectrum analyzers, etc.)
  • Experience with safety critical and/or fault tolerant design
  • Experience with hazard, failure, risk analyses (i.e. FMEA, FTA, etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience with DOD, SAE, IEEE, and/or IPC standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Flexible, self-started, desire to solve any problem


Desired Qualifications


  • Prior work in the field of imaging system design
  • Experience with bus protocols such as CAN, SPI, RS232, I2C, USB, & Ethernet
  • High speed digital design experience
  • Motor controller design experience
  • RF design experience
  • HDL development
  • Matlab
  • Labview
  • Working knowledge of C / C++, Python, Visual C#
  • Linux systems
  • Experience with lab and field testing of imaging systems
