Principal Technical Cyber Architect

Provide technical security consultancy to Technical Leads, working closely together towards Technical Delivery Planning, to deliver both high-, and low-level designs.

Designs must be viable and cost-effective, convergent with broader organisational strategic goals, and conformant, where relevant, to customer accreditation requirements. All security requirements must be gathered by the Technical Security Consultant and fully incorporated into any designs, ensuring adherence to all appropriate standards and practices.

 

Key Accountabilities

  1. Work in partnership with our clients at senior level to drive the cyber defend solution outcome they seek in their business context based on QinetiQ cyber defend services (incorporating threat intelligence, threat hunting, adaptive alert monitoring and incident response)
  2. Develop conceptual security solutions, logical architectures and associated technology principles & approaches; devise and develop security plans, policies & processes and advise technology selection.
  3. Devise new or improved solutions that are informed by customer & market intelligence to meet customer business & security outcomes and make a compelling case for the customer to invest in QinetiQ cyber defend services.
  4. Provide oversight and guidance for design, development and implementation/deployment of security solutions for operational cyber defence
  5. Collaborate effectively with QinetiQ business winning team to create compelling marketing collateral, propositions and bids.
  6. Support our cyber security go to market in our priority sectors.

 

Key Capabilities/Knowledge

 

  • Able to lead development of technical solutions that are attractive to customers, working closely with Enterprise Cyber CTO and taking account of customer & market insights and a good understanding of QinetiQ’s capabilities and competitive position
  • Credible and effective outcome focused stakeholder engagement, influence & persuasion skills
  • Collaborate effectively across QinetiQ and externally to achieve required outcomes
  • Able to explain how cyber security affects business and operational outcomes
  • Current understanding of managed security services for cyber defence in government, defence, CNI markets, including current NCSC advice and good practice guidance
  • Excellent understanding of digital technology
  • Excellent understanding and recognised expert in QinetiQ managed cyber security services, how they work, how they are deployed, relative strengths & weaknesses
  • Excellent understanding and recognised in QinetiQ as an expert in the current cyber threat landscape, technical vulnerabilities and attack methodologies to the design of complex architectures
  • Able to architect good operational monitoring and detection solutions for remote (3rd party) clients based on QinetiQ managed cyber security services that meet defined requirements for cyber defence
  • Good working knowledge of cyber & information related legal & regulatory requirements relevant to the solutions
  • Good working knowledge of ITIL and managed service environments and how to design competitive solutions for them
  • Able to engage effectively with, and lead or contribute to business winning activities including devising competitive solution strategies and writing compelling bids and marketing collateral

 

Experience & Qualifications

  • Essential
  • STEM degree or equivalent
  • Digitally literate (including fluency in Microsoft Office tools)
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience ideally in at least 2 relevant sectors

 

Desirable

  • Experience applying architectural frameworks (e.g. TOGAF).
  • Experience of a range of digital technologies & platforms, including cloud
  • Experience developing proportionate cyber security solutions to meet customer needs
  • Certification in Security Architecture, Information Assurance and Technical Architecture
  • Experience in different sectors and domains including defence, wider UK Government, critical national infrastructure.
  • Full member of recognised cyber security professional body (CIISec or similar)/Chartered Cyber Security Professional (recognised by the Cyber Security Council)
