Overall Purpose of the Job:

To provide expert-level direction in the delivery of programme controls functions to the C&I business


Key Accountabilities:

  • Leading by example, communicating purpose and expectations, developing and motivating the team, creating inclusivity, participation and involvement and encouraging innovation and creativity


  • Directing, instructing and supervising the teams in the delivery of project controls functions to the C&I business in accordance with the C&I PMO Strategy and QinetiQ Operating Framework


  • Undertaking tasks and activities, as required, in the delivery of project controls functions to the C&I business in accordance with the C&I PMO Strategy and QinetiQ Operating Framework


  • Monitoring, Controlling and Reporting on Project Performance for projects up to LCM level 4 (LCM Level as defined in QinetiQ Operating Framework)


  • Championing Best Practice and applying lessons learned within the team, with programme and project teams and other key delivery partners


  • Developing and maintaining regular, open and positive lines of communication within the team, with the leadership, programme and project teams and other key delivery partners


  • Functional Management of Project Controllers


  • Managing, motivating and coordinating the team to achieve specified objectives


  • Engaging, mentoring and supporting the team in their career development and providing guidance that enables the transfer of learning into effective practice for the team


  • Promoting the wider public good in all actions and acting in a morally, legally and socially appropriate manner in interactions with stakeholders and members of the organisation


Successful outcomes of this role:

  • Up-to-date, accurate, reliable and timely outputs that are trusted and accepted by the leadership, programme and project teams in support of projects up to LCM Level 4


  • Project Controls outputs that contribute to meeting or exceeding business plan revenue and margin targets for projects up to LCM Level 4


  • Established and regular engagement with the leadership, programme and project teams for projects up to LCM Level 4


  • Leading a highly skilled Project Controls team with maximisation of team morale, motivation, productivity and retention



Person Specification

Essential Education and Qualifications:

Bachelor degree or equivalent or 10 years’ relevant experience
