What You’ll Do
As an Engineering Design & Drafting Technologist, you’ll support mechanical engineering design and drafting for new development, improvements, and production engineering. Your work will include:
- Creating 3D models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation using specialized software.
- Designing simple mechanical components for platforms and payloads, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Assisting with prototyping, testing, and confirming designs alongside the engineering team.
- Peer reviewing drawings and change control documentation.
- Operating a 3D printer when required.
- Collaborating with senior engineers to meet project timelines and budgets.
- Recommending improvements to processes and workflows.
What You Bring
- Post-secondary diploma or higher in an engineering-related field.
- CET designation through ASET (or eligibility).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering design and drafting.
- Proficiency in parametric modeling and drafting software (Autodesk Inventor preferred).
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Bonus if you have:
- Experience with autonomous or uncrewed vehicles.
- Knowledge of fabrication processes (metalwork, wiring, electronics).
- Familiarity with FEA, CFD, and technical writing.
Security & Safety Requirements
- Must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Eligible for Canadian Class 2 Security Clearance including background check and criminal record screening.
- Comfortable working in a safety-sensitive environment (factory floor, testing, deployments).
- Able to lift up to 15 kg and occasionally travel off-site.
