We are currently looking for an Aerospace Engineer to join QinetiQ’s leading Structural Integrity business, based in South Melbourne, Victoria.


QinetiQ’s Structural Integrity group provides trusted, independent airworthiness advice and specialist structural integrity and propulsion systems engineering services to Military customers, with a strong focus on the Air Domain. Our team of highly qualified and experienced engineers offer a full range of structural integrity engineering services including design, loads and stress analysis, fatigue and damage tolerance analysis, propulsion systems integrity assurance, vibration and aeroelasticity assessment, numerical modelling, data management and analysis, risk analysis, software development, certification basis assessment and development of Instructions for Continued Airworthiness.


As an Aerospace Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with the Defence Aviation Safety Authority in support of independent safety assurance activities for propulsion system products across all Australian Defence Force (ADF) aircraft
  • Assessing complex technical applications for compliance with standards and Defence regulatory requirements
  • Providing specialist engineering and technical advice to Defence and industry organisations on complex aircraft propulsion system issues
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders such as the ADF operational community, Defence sustainment and acquisition organisations, and Defence industry


This role will lead to technical leadership and contribution to enabling and growing a capability with application locally and internationally through QinetiQ’s global network.


To be successful in the role of Aerospace Engineer, you will need to bring with you:

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace engineering or similar discipline
  • Previous industry experience
  • Have experience working with aircraft propulsion systems, including gas turbine engines, propellers and associated sub-systems
  • Currently have, or aspire to work towards, technical authority (review or approval) and / or technical leadership responsibilities in some form of technical management system
  • Have strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) communication skills
  • Are Melbourne-based (strong preference)
