This is a critical role within the QinetiQ Canada Business Development team for Naval/Maritime pursuits. The candidate must have credible knowledge of current and future Naval projects and procurements, knowledge of Defence/RCN testing and evaluation environments and processes, including development of supporting documentation, and at least 10 years of related technical experience in the Naval domain of the Canadian Defence sector.

Reporting to VP of Business Development, the SME Maritime will provide expertise to Business Development and Capture Managers and provide technical input/guidance on related capture campaigns. 

The role also supports the VP BD in the ISBP and Country Strategy development as it pertains to the RCN-related pursuits.


Role Purpose

Maritime Engineer / Solutions Architect
•    Provide expertise to business development and capture managers and provide technical input/guidance on related capture campaigns.  
•    Provide technical expertise to internal key stakeholders on current programs and apply lessons learned to future programs/pursuits. 
•    Determine technical capabilities and solutions to differentiate and elevate QinetiQ apart from competition.
•    Engage with customer under the lead of the capture manager.

Key Accountabilities

1.    Aid in the development of Capture Plans.
2.    Hold periodic internal reviews with Key Stakeholders and VP BD
3.    Maintain positive and engaging relationship with customer
4.    Be the ‘in-country lead’ for distributed technical teams developing solutions and delivering customer projects in the Maritime space.

Key Capabilities/Knowledge

1.    Canadian government current and future related projects, defence & security landscape, industry  
2.    Awareness of key current and future technologies contributing to successful outcomes for future campaign strategies
3.    Ability to position technical solutions against competitive offerings
4.    Ability to communicate complex concepts and ideas to Defence customers (peers and executive)
5.    Knowledge of Defence/RCN testing and evaluation environments, and processes including development of supporting documentation

Experience & Qualifications

1.    Experience in leading successful technical engagements with customers and stakeholders
2.    Currently holds or ability to obtain up to SECRET security clearance.
3.    At least 10 years of related technical experience in the Navy domain of the Canadian Defence sector. 
4.    Significant experience in the Maritime test and evaluation domain related to complex shipbuilding and testing and operation of test facilities.
