We are currently looking for a Robotics Engineer to join our Integrated Engineering Services business at Waterhen

As Robotics Engineer your role will be to provide technical guidance to ensure Waterhen maintenance services are conducted within QinetiQ policies and procedures. Contribute to a high performing team culture where staff are fully supported within a safe work environment and deliver exceptional customer outcomes.


Key resposibilities include:

  • Works independently with minimal guidance from Principal Engineer
  • Applies in-depth knowledge and experience to solve complex problems often requiring a new perspective but using existing solutions from a wide range of engineering disciplines.
  • Assists in shaping, describing and delivering whole or parts of projects.
  • Provides input into decisions within his/her own area.
  • Expected to attain a Engineering Authority under the QinetiQ and/or customers Engineering Management System.
  • Ability to understand of the QinetiQ ethos and how he/she contributes to the overall performance of the domain.
  • Gain understanding on the interactions between QinetiQ and the client.
  • Assist the team in advising the client regarding project scope, methods, complexity and risks.


To be successful in the role of Robotics Engineer you will need to bring with you:

  • Degree in engineering fields such as Electronics, Electrical, Systems, Mechanical and/or Software.
  • Minimum 3 years Industry preferably Defence Sector experience.
  • Advanced problem solving skills.
  • Advanced communication and presentation skills.
  • Advanced technical writing skills.
  • Ability to program using C/C++ and knowledge of Linux environments.
  • Experience with circuit design such as: o Reading schematics; o Fault finding; and o Simulation and Modelling.
  • Knowledge with Hardware in the Loop Testing.
  • High technical documentation writing skills.
  • Advanced skills using the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience in working in an office as well as workshop environment
  • High quality work and attention to detail.
  • Strong team working skills.
  • Builds strong relationships with clients.
  • Self-motivated and willing to learn new skills
  • Well-developed communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Integrity and high personal ethical standards that align with QinetiQ standards
