QinetiQ Inc. is hiring a dynamic Senior Director as the chief security officer (CSO) to join our growing organization in a very exciting time. In this role, you'll be responsible for developing and implementing a strategic, geographically dispersed industrial and personnel security program and engaging externally with our broad customer base. The CSO is the US Security Advisor for the US Chief Executive Officer, US Executive Leadership Team, and Global leadership team. The role is located in the Northern Virginia area – Tysons, Reston, or Lorton.

 

As a successful CSO, you will foster a culture of security awareness that drives behavioral changes within the company to minimize risk to ensure the physical safety and integrity of personnel and company information. You will manage all aspects of our security program - personnel clearances, secure facilities / systems, insider threat, policies, procedures, and customer compliance.

The CSO must possess the ability to work both independently and collaboratively and have strong communication / interpersonal skills with a customer service-oriented mindset. We are looking for a leader to build and execute important processes, then re-imagine them to help us deliver outcomes to our customers faster while maintaining rigorous compliance with our customers' requirements. Demonstrated capability to think creatively and develop strategies and processes that maintain a strong security posture while enabling business outcomes is critical to this role.

Your Contribution to the Mission:

  • Lead management of compliance, personnel, and physical security programs
  • Ensure mandatory USG reporting as it relates to personnel, facility, and insider threat programs.
  • Liaise directly with assigned DCSA IS Rep, other Government Security Agencies, and teaming partners to ensure full and timely compliance with government directives, regulations, and reporting
  • Arbitrates policy and processes around personnel, clearances, and our facilities.
  • Operating and optimizing processes to grow and maintain QinetiQ US cleared workforce at pace with our USG business.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and expert consultation to Executive leadership team and employees
  • Identifies and documents unique local threats & vulnerabilities; makes recommendation to risk management status and reports threat indicators into the Insider Threat Process
  • Oversee security education, insider threat awareness, and training activities for facility management, personnel, and others, as appropriate
  • Ensure periodic self-inspections of the NISP security program are conducted and that corrective action is taken for all identified findings and vulnerabilities

To Land This Job, You Need:

  •  Active US Top Secret security clearance
  • 10+ years of progressive security experience
  • Experience in SCIF operations and management
  • Knowledge of both DoD and IC customer workflows.
  • In-depth understanding of security manuals, directives, and Executive Orders; to include NISPOM and its amplifying directives (DCIDs, ICDs, Sponsor Instruction, etc.)
  • Experience leading, managing, and engaging a team of security professionals
  • The status of applicable COVID-19 vaccination requirements under Executive Order 14042 are subject to change depending on applicable court orders and the course of ongoing litigation. Candidates may be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or have an approved exemption

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • SCI eligibility or Active SCI clearance w/ polygraph
  • Experience with FOCI mitigation
  • Experience working with or administration of a Special Security Agreement (SSA)
  • Affinity with Intelligence and Defense customers
  • 10-15 years of progressive security experience
  • Previous Chief Security Officer or Deputy experience
  • Mergers and acquisition experience – due diligence and/or integration

Clearance Level Must Currently Possess:

DOD Top Secret or higher clearance
