Your Contribution to Our Mission:

The Buyer will work with the Purchasing and Finance teams to support our Maritime Programs in the following areas:

  • Source, select, audit, purchase, expedite and report on materials and services as assigned using established policies and procedures in a Defense manufacturing company.
  • Develop and implement commodity strategies for assigned commodities such as PCBA's, Cables or Machined parts linked to business goals based on performance (Quality, Service, Technology and Price)
  • Identify and develop new sources of supplies where current global supplier capabilities are inadequate.
  • Manage day to day procurement activities including internal and supplier communications. Negotiate schedule and delivery changes, price changes, revised terms and special supplier agreements.
  • Manage supplier relationships through monthly review of supplier scorecards and conducting supplier workshops to include performance management activity, review of supplier scorecard, supply chain risk elements, efficiency opportunities and other supplier management functions. 
  • Review MRP requirements to ensure component deliveries are scheduled in line with production requirements ; review and issue purchase orders and make necessary changes to requirements, schedule and price. 
  • Requires an ability to understand purchasing materials compliant to Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR). 

To Land This Job, You Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management. Supply Chain management degree preferred.
  • 0-5 years experience as a Buyer. A new graduate would be considered if having graduated with a Supply Chain degree.
  • 1- 5 years experience working with ERP systems (Visual, Costpoint, Oracle a plus) 
  • 2 plus years experience working for defense contractors preferred
  • Working understanding of production Bills of Materials (BOM's)
  • Must have strong team skills and ability to solve complex problems. 
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft office suite
  • Be able to communicate effectively across all company levels in both verbal and written form. 
  • Must be U.S. person within the meaning of regulations. The ITAR and EAR define U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident
