Your Contribution to Our Mission:

 

QinetiQ Inc. is looking for a highly motivated Project Manager to oversee the design, development, manufacturing, and test and installation ativities for commercial and Department of Defense projects. The selected individual will be responsible for initiating projects by directly working with customer/sponsors to define top level scope and overall objectives. This individual will be a key contributor to plan projects by reviewing customer requirements, defining WBS, estimating durations/costs, developing schedules, and performing critical path analysis. During the execution of the project the project manager shall lead a team to execute planned tasks to deliver specific scope on time and on budget. On larger programs, the project manager could support a program manager by directing teams, taking performance and updating schedules and task lists. The project manager will be expected to use his/her skills and knowledge of the system to identify issues as they occur and provide direction to maintain cost & schedule performance. Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

 

  • Development of schedules and budgets using WBS, critical path and estimating techniques.
  • Develop project plans including developing MS Project schedules.
  • Communicate weekly plans to the project team.
  • Direct project team and provide guidance to mitigate issues as they occur
  • Work with the team to take project performance and update MS Project plan

  • Conduct Risk Management and identify risk mitigations

  • Communicate project status to customer(s) through periodic status meetings

  • Lead proposal responses to customer inquiries.

 

To Land This Job, You Need:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or business related field.
  • 1 - 5 years of experience as a project manager, technical lead or Cost Account Manager on an electromechanical development/production project.

  • Experience translating customer requirements and needs to top level scope and requirements.
  • Experience working directly with customers, providing update reports and assuring that the customers' needs are met without incurring scope growth.
  • Must be capable of developing a WBS and translating that to a Microsoft Project schedule. Develop budget for all work packages in the WBS.
  • Excellent people management skills.

Desired Skills

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

  • Hands-on project experience in design, development, test, installation, and/or repair of hardware, software, and shipboard control systems

  • Experience with Department of Defense customers such as NAVAIR or NAVSEA.
