QinetiQ Inc. is looking for a Senior Systems Administrator to support operations at our Waltham, MA facility. 

 

Your Contribution to the Mission:

 

  • Understanding and knowledge of Unix fundamentals to include DNS, DHCP, AD, and server replication methods.
  • Experience working with Windows Operating Systems including both server and desktop.
  • Working as a team member in a fast paced technological environment.
  • Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of a moderate to high scope and complexity to include the integration of hardware and operating systems (OS).
  • Understanding of data RAID, data backup uses and technologies.
  • Install and configure software applications requested by end users.
  • Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security compliance requirements.
  • Provide documentation and training on advanced IT processes and procedures and other tasks as assigned. 

 

To Land This Job, You Need:

 

  • At least five (5) years of Windows administration experience
  • Experience using VMWare vCenter, vSphere, and ESX virtual computing methods
  • Experience DNS, DHCP, Active Directory integration, Backup and Recovery enterprise suites
  • Experience with PC and/or Server architectures and troubleshooting methods and be able to assist in developing solutions and documentation to a variety of technical problems
  • In-depth working experience Linux OS
  • Experience with data storage, NAS, and SAN technologies and solutions
  • Experience with using Information Technology project lifecycle management processes
  • Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development
  • High Performance Computing (HPC) experience in a Linux environment is a plus
  • Systems are operational 24x7 and occasionally require work effort beyond standard work hours.
  • This is a customer-facing position and requires the ability to work with customers. Must be able to clearly summarize and communicate complex environments and issues to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Must be able to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
  • Proven ability to understand, interpret, and glean results from complex technical relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage moderately complex projects involving UNIX and Windows systems.
  • Configuration Management experience is a plus
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with change management processes and tools.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert for Linux and Windows compatible systems in Cloud and Virtualized environments.
  • Develop scripts to automate repetitive tasks or document procedural run-books for junior administrators.
  • May be asked to mentor others or serve as a team lead, guiding day-to-day activities of team members.
