Staff Systems Engineer


Position will be responsible for conversion of customer requirements into a total systems solution while tracking technical, schedule, and cost constraints. The position will be responsible for using and developing processes to integrate multiple engineering disciplines to support the transformation of customer needs to a balanced technical solution. The position will use expert knowledge of system engineering or the system engineering management process to aid project development teams. This position will also include evaluating the systems logistics and lifecycle support requirements.  This position will also be a key stakeholder in supporting the group’s continuing process improvement initiatives by analyzing metrics and making recommendations for improvement.


The applicant should be a hands on person that will work with design engineers to develop a valid technical solution.  Should have experience working on DoD development programs. Should have knowledge and experience in systems engineering in the following areas: Mission Requirements Analysis, System Hierarchy and Specification Tree development; Functional Analysis; Systems Integration; Requirements Flowdown and Allocation; Trade Studies; System Synthesis; Configuration Definition and Management; Risk Analysis, Hazard Analysis. Candidate should also have experience in performance Verification and Validation (V&V); Integrated Logistics Support (ILS); Logistics Analysis and Engineering (Reliability, Availability and Maintainability) and/or; Modification Management.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage system requirements, and support subsystem requirement derivation
  • Develop and execute verification and validation programs
  • Serve as program lead for specialty engineering (reliability, availability, and maintainability, FMECA, hazard analysis, obsolescence management)
  • Provide support to electrical, software, systems and quality engineers to achieve project deliverables


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 2-5 years’ experience.
  • Experience developing and managing technical requirements
  • Experience developing and overseeing environmental tests


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with military and commercial standards (MIL-STD-461, MIL-S-901D, IPC-610, etc.)
  • Experience working on DoD Programs
  • Experience with DOORS or an equivalent Requirement Management tool
  • Experience with RELEX or equivalent Reliability Analysis tool
  • Experience with fielded Navy systems
  • Familiar with embedded hardware and firmware design
  • Familiarity with CMMI Level 3 Processes
