How do I contact your recruiting team?

What is the typical recruitment process/timeframe?

  • You may be contacted at any point once you have submitted your application or registered your cv/resume. We will do our utmost to keep you updated on your application.  
  • Your application will be reviewed by the recruiter, and if you pass the pre-screen, your cv/resume will be sent to the hiring manager to review. If you meet the roles requirements, you will be selected for interview.
  • You will be able to ask your recruiting team for additional support needed at any stage throughout the recruiting process.  The number of interviews stages and timescales in the process may vary so do check with your recruiter at the onset. Your recruiter will advise you in advance of an interview of any preparation you may need, and will guide you at each stage.
  • Everyone is different, so please do not hesitate to ask your recruiter any questions, we are happy to help.

Will I be able to work from home?

QinetiQ operates a flexible working environment. Each role location is reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and providing there are no physical or business restrictions then we can discuss a flexible approach.

There is more than one job that suits my skillset, can I apply for more than one role?

Yes, you are welcome to apply for more than one vacancy at a time but please make our recruiters aware of this. Make sure, if you apply with a cover letter, that it matches the role.

I can’t see anything that matches my skillset, can I send in a spec CV/Resume?

We recommend registering your cv/resume by creating a profile via our careers website so you can set up job alerts.

If I apply for one role, will my details be considered for other positions?

Yes. Our recruiters and hiring managers work closely to proactively match applicants to suitable open positions.

I’m a return-to-worker who hasn’t been in employment for a period of time, will my application still be considered?

QinetiQ encourages you to apply and assesses each application based on skills and experience. Your application will be given equal and fair consideration against other candidates as part of our selection process.

You’re advertising a role at one location, would it be possible to work from another QinetiQ site?

I’ve found a suitable full-time role on your website but I can only work part-time, should I still apply?

QinetiQ appreciates that people’s lifestyles vary. We welcome applications from people who are looking for part time employment. We are a flexible employer and will consider what options might be available to accommodate individual preferences for part time employment.

How long before I receive feedback on my application?

QinetiQ aims to provide interview feedback as soon as possible, but timescales can vary depending on the volume of applicants, length of the interview process, availability of hiring managers, and occasionally logistical barriers.

How do I know if I’m eligible for security clearance?

Due to the nature of the business, and the interests of national security, there is a strong element of sensitivity around who is eligible for security clearance. All citizens of respective countries are eligible for clearances within their local regions. If a job is multi-site across multiple countries, you will need to ensure you have eligibility to perform this work and the travel it may require.
It is highly recommended that you check the local government regulation and guidelines to ensure your eligibility.

I have not been attending a recognised university/college, but have attained my skills by other means. Will QinetiQ still be interested in my application?

Yes, your application will always be considered. At QinetiQ we support and encourage diversity in all teams and recognise that inclusion across areas of differing backgrounds play an important role in the dynamics and success of our organisation.
There may be some qualifications that are compulsory in a role for reasons of Health and Safety or for customer or legal requirements. If you are in any doubt, please check with your recruiter.

I’ve seen a role which I like but I’m not quite experienced enough, is it worth applying still?

Do you provide a relocation allowance?

QinetiQ will consider a relocation assistance depending on the role and requirements. This information will be posted in the job advert if applicable, but do not hesitate to check with your local recruiting team.

I’m currently studying for a qualification paid for by my current employer, if I leave will QinetiQ pick up the fees?

QinetiQ encourages personal development and supports its employees with further education. We suggest flagging this to your regional recruiter during your initial conversation with them so they can consider your request.

What is QinetiQ's policy around employee development and continuing education?

QinetiQ encourages personal development and we support employees who ask for further training and to develop new skills. Training varies regionally, but can be provided by our internal training teams, or using an external provider. We also provide group-based and online learning and also support those who wish to study for professional qualifications.

What provisions do you make to support disabled employees?

We believe that everyone can make a strong contribution to the team at QinetiQ and make reasonable adjustments to support and accommodate all employees.  

What provisions do you make to support someone with a disability at interview?

QinetiQ will make reasonable adjustments to support all candidates with a disability throughout every stage of the interview process. If you have any concerns or would like to ask questions in strictest confidence you can contact your local recruiting team. We are also happy to provide information to a nominated company/supporting product or equipment to support you.

If I am selected for interview what preparation do you recommend?

  • Familiarise yourself with the work we do at QinetiQ. There is wealth of information on our website.
  • Familiarise yourself with your CV/Resume, achievements and previous positions or studies.
  • Familiarise yourself with the job description/advert and be prepared to demonstrate to your interviewer how you can fulfil the job requirements. Think of some questions you might want to ask at the interview.
  • Think of how you structure your answers. The QinetiQ interviewer/s may ask you competency questions, so think about how to answer effectively.  
  • Ask your recruiter of there is any pre-interview work needed, or if you are required to prepare anything. You may be asked to prepare a presentation or prepare an answer to a specific question.
  • Ask friends to help and conduct a practice interview, consider how you might answer questions around your prior experience, above all be yourself.
  • Allow plenty of time to get to your interview, check in advance of location, and allow plenty of time to be there.

How do you store my application data?

QinetiQ adheres to all GDPR and country privacy legislation and we will not share your information with anyone who isn’t relevant to your application. Your details will be stored on our database and you can ask for your details to be removed at any time.

What is the dress code for interview?

This can depend on the nature of role you are applying for – please do ask the recruiting team if in doubt. Regions and sites may vary.

How will you use my social media profile during the application selection process?

Anything you have in a public domain is accessible by a future employer.

What facilities are there for me to practice my faith? Is there a Prayer Room available?
