THE ROLE

 

Our award-winning Mission Systems Team deliver advanced aviation IT systems from our office in Lincoln to customers around the world. As a result of our continued success and business expansion, we are delighted to offer a Product Owner opportunity to support the development and delivery of our bespoke IT products. 

 

As a Product Owner, you will be responsible for enabling the development of GECO Mission Support System features by understanding and communicating internal and customer priorities for product features to your software development team as well as leading design activity.  

 

The main duties of the role will include: 

 

  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s corporate strategy, objectives and internal processes. 
  • Understand and implement the strategy and vision of MSN that affect your areas of responsibility. 
  • Lead design activities for new features in your assigned product areas. 
  • Ensure that features under development meet the needs of our end users and our business through active prioritisation of our backlog. 
  • Work with other stakeholders to develop and maintain a roadmap of internally and externally facing features for development. 
  • Maintain current knowledge of Product Development and Management methodology and best practice. 
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Inzpire’s GECO products and services. 
  • Maintain a market awareness in order to assist the Company in maintaining its competitive advantage. 
  • Stay abreast of developments in operational requirements and advances in IT systems technology. 
  • Build and maintain domain expertise in Air and Aviation Mission Planning. 

 

These duties will be primarily undertaken in the setting of an agile software development framework. We see development of our people as a high priority and mentoring/training to develop in the role will be provided. 

 

This role is based in the Company Offices in Lincoln; remote and flexible working is available where tasking allows - applicants should assume that they may be required to work in the office full-time some weeks and frequently during the probation period. 

 

THE PERSON

 

We are looking for a proactive, articulate, flexible and confident individual with the ability to balance the needs of the customer with the strategic vision for the product. You should be capable of accurately communicating complex technical concepts to the team, ensuring high quality output to match or exceed customer expectations. 

 

As a member of a small highly skilled team, you should be capable of working collaboratively with other specialisations and leading the team to a cohesive solution. The individual will need to have had extensive experience as a Product Owner or a similar level of experience as a military aviator. 

 

Essential 

 

  • Excellent communication and literacy skills (written and verbal) 
  • Strong team leadership skills 
  • Either experience of working in a military aviation environment or professional Product Owner experience 
  • Good organisational and time management skills 
  • Excellent IT skills 

 

Desirable 

 

  • Previous experience of Azure DevOps 
  • Understanding of the aviation environments where our products are used 
  • Experience of software user interface design 
  • Understanding of safety, security and engineering standards and concepts (e.g. RTCA/DO-200A, DO-178C, ‘Secure By Design’)  

 

 

Due to the nature of elements of the role, the successful applicant must be a UK National and may be required to successfully complete National Security Vetting which may require criminal record, security service and credit reference checks; qualification will also normally require a minimum UK residency of at least 5 years.
