We are currently looking for a Research Engineer – Optical Technology to join our IES business, based in Adelaide.

You will be a part of the Integrated Engineering Services division using your expertise to support DST in the Development of High Power Amplifiers as part of DST laser capability research and development.
 

As Research Engineer your responsibilities will include:

  • Support the delivery of innovative laser systems including laser weapons from concept development and laboratory experiments through to engineering design, build and test.
  • Advise on the optical design aspects of laser and optical subsystems including beam control & safety considerations.
  • Support system integration and field testing of high power laser systems.
  • Contribute ideas for internal investment and develop intellectual property for business growth.
  • Share knowledge through reports and presentations to colleagues and customers.

 

To be successful in the role of Research Engineer you will need to bring with you:

  • Demonstrated scientific expertise through appropriate qualifications (eg PhD) or equivalent technical experience.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of lasers and optics.
  • Experience of research programmes involving modelling, experiment and analysis.
  • Experience of working with laboratory test and measurement equipment.
  • Excellent presentation skills.


Candidates will need to be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance
