The Role
As a Compliance Technician, you’ll be a member of the Estates Delivery discipline within UK Defence Operations. The role will provide support and leadership in order to effectively deliver high quality Estates Maintenance services to our customers.
Day-to-day, you’ll primarily be responsible for the co-ordination and performance of key compliance activities across the site, serving as the responsible or competent person in respect of asbestos, legionella and FGAS management.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking appropriate Building Services tasks when tasked to an appropriate Delivery Lead by their Functional Manager
- Co-ordinating legionella management requirements for the site(s), ensuring effective maintenance of site risk assessments, implementation and monitoring of control regimes and tracking of ongoing performance
- Co-ordinating asbestos management requirements for the site(s), ensuring effective maintenance of site registers, inspection programmes, and training / information needs
- Co-ordinating FGAS management requirements for the site(s), ensuring effective maintenance of site registers, inspection programmes, and training / information needs
- Analysis of compliance arrangements and performance, identifying and proposing opportunities for improvement
Essential experience of the Compliance Technician:
- Understanding and experience of Asbestos, Legionella and F-Gas management requirements
- Understanding of key health & safety legislation
- Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other IT applications
- Able to make decisions based on own knowledge and experience
- A commitment to continuous improvement both personal and process
Essential qualifications for the Compliance Technician:
- Attained a Level 3 NVQ in engineering or technical (or similar field) OR provide evidence of recent relevant administrative experience in a similar role

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Boscombe Down site with a minimum average site attendance of five days per week. Compressed hours are available.
Boscombe Down
MOD Boscombe Down is a unique operational site featuring the longest military runway in the UK. Primarily focusing on providing testing, evaluation and support services for aviation and aerospace systems. Renowned for its extensive flight testing capabilities the site plays a vital role in the UK’s aviation defence contributing to the development, testing and airworthiness of military aircraft enhancing operational readiness and effectiveness.
