The Role
As an Electronics / Electrical Engineer you will have a role that is out of the ordinary. This is a very exciting opportunity for a Junior Electronics / Electrical Engineer to be part of a small team responsible for the maintenance and operation of electronic equipment.

 

You'll  be responsible for the operation and repair of electronic systems used for the tracking and measurement of radiated noise from underwater vehicles. No two days are the same with this role - you will be able to take responsibility for workshop / lab tasks, and delegate or manage the task through to completion. The Electronics Engineer will be required to adhere to local multi-skill arrangements including sea-going work and Trials activities.


Day-to-day you will:

  • Lead and manage compliant tasks and activities, on site and at sea
  • Ensure all planned maintenance activities are conducted safely and with adequate resources
  • Support the repair, maintenance and operation of a range of electronic equipment and systems associated with noise analysis, including the Range Tracking System, GPS, Radar and marine radios
  • Report any defect or resource issue that affects equipment availability, in good time
  • maintain personal record of competence against an agreed framework

 

This role is full time and based at the BUTEC, in the Inner Sound on the north west coast of Scotland.

 

Essential experience of the Electronics / Electrical Engineer
You must have some relevant experience in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, whether this is through a course or work experience.
