QTS is a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ Group PLC, specialising in the design and manufacture of a range of state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target systems, including the world-leading Banshee target. QTS targets are used to enable realistic weapons test and evaluation and operator training in over forty countries worldwide, with QTS providing a complete managed service in over fifteen of these countries.


The Role
Reporting to the IT Manager you will provide support to the QTS IT Services function, delivering planned or requested activities, which will depend on the requirements of the individual task, in order to effectively deliver high quality services to our customers.


Day-to-day duties will include:

  • Desktop Support:
    • Produce all support and pre-installation documentation where appropriate.
    • Systems Maintenance.
    • Manage those Reference Facilities that support Systems Maintenance.
    • Respond to escalated incidents and problems and change requests to ensure the timely update of the company's Service Management ticketing system.
  • Service Management
    • Manage the company's response to escalated incidents and investigate remedial action and any preventative maintenance requirements regarding future occurrences.
    • Effective Problem Management and support of Continual Service Improvement Planning (CSIP) development and delivery. The production of Root Cause Analysis reporting.
  • System Installation:
    • Build, install and configure managed ICT services in line with the company's product set and customer requirements.
    • Manage the technical day to day relationship with internal customer service teams and 3rd party supplier interfaces.
    • 2nd line desktop support to enterprise users.
    • Building and delivery of new desktop/laptop hardware & peripherals.
    • Supporting Audio Video (AV) and Video Conferencing (VC) facilities.
    • Working with and supervising sub-contractors, as required.
    • Fault diagnosis/fix of corporate and standalone PC systems and peripherals.
    • Remotely assist network management teams with “remote hands” for fault diagnosis/fix of the corporate data & voice networks and cabling infrastructure.


Essential experience of the IT Support Technician

  • Proven track record in desktop support in an enterprise environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
  • Audio Visual & Video Conferencing equipment
  • PC, laptop and printer hardware repair
  • Knowledge of structured Cabling and infrastructure & fault diagnosis
  • Service Management Ticketing

 

Qualifications for the IT Support Technician

  • Microsoft Certified IT Professional, M365 Teams Administrator / Azure Fundamentals
  • CompTIA A+ or CompTIA Network +
