Mechanical Design Engineer

Role Purpose

Provide expertise in developing, designing and testing the necessary mechanical products and systems per requirements and specification. 

Key Accountabilities

•    Provide expertise in the design, development and testing of mechanical components.
•    Perform mechanical component development and integration; use Computer-aided-Design (CAD) concepts and applicable methods and procedures.
•    Participate in engineering activities to define product requirements, create designs, and perform simulation testing and validation of final hardware components.
•    Solve problems within the bounds of existing procedures; analyse information and standard practices to make judgements.
•    Hands on with mechanical development and integration assignments.
•    Conducts value analysis during the product design phase while optimising development costs.
•    Solve technical problems and improves existing designs.
•    Able to take initiative and prioritise and complete work within given timeframes.
•    Other responsibilities as assigned.
•    Reports to Mechanical Engineering Manager.

Key Capabilities/Knowledge

•    Strong knowledge of CAD preferably Solid works.
•    Knowledge of the following areas (desirable):
o    Composite Products
o    Additive Manufacturing
o    Welded Structures
o    Sheet Metal
o    Machined Components
o    Finite Element Analysis
o    Aeronautical design and aerodynamics
•    Ability to manage small projects delivering results to time and cost.
•    Good knowledge and ability to apply core concepts of engineering.
•    Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion.

Experience & Qualifications

•    Post-secondary degree or equivalent in Engineering.
•    3 years minimum of relevant experience.•
