About the role

We are currently recruiting for a Stores Person to join QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) within our Stores Team.  QTS is a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ Group PLC, specialising in the design and manufacture of a range of state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target systems, including the world-leading Banshee target.

 

QTS targets are used to enable realistic weapons test and evaluation and operator training in over 40 countries worldwide, with QTS providing a complete managed service in over 15 of these countries.

 

What will I be doing?

Reporting to the Stores Lead, you will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of supporting the efficient and smooth operation of the Stores department, including receipt of goods inwards, kitting and stock control.

 

Duties will include:

  • Transacting of incoming goods, with accurate recordkeeping and distribution
  • Packing of goods according to work instructions. Ensuring items are packed correctly and they have the necessary paperwork for couriers and customers
  • Kitting of items, components and assemblies, in line with instructions with accurate record keeping
  • Operating the forklift as required
  • Assisting with stock control activities, as required
  • Use of electronic in-house ERP system
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities

 

What do I need?

We ask that you have experience of working in a stores / warehouse, or manufacturing environment and are qualified to GCSE, or equivalent level, in maths and English.

 

You’ll be a team player and have good communication skills, both written and verbal.

 

We also ask that you:

  • are computer Literate, with competent use of the Microsoft Office suite, particularly MS Excel
  • have excellent attention to detail
  • are comfortable with the handling of hazardous goods
  • are comfortable with lifting heavy goods (with lifting aids, where appropriate),

 

It would be an advantage if you have:

  • previous experience of using an ERP system
  • a current Forklift Truck licence
  • experience of Continuous Improvement (desirable)
