Join us as a Facilities Manager at our Boscombe Down site -  a 1,400-acre site featuring two operational runways (including the longest military runway in the UK) as well as extensive facilities to undertake a wide range of test, evaluation, demonstration and consultancy programmes. It is also the home of the world’s first test pilot school (ETPS) that, today, provides world-class training for flight test professionals of both civilian and military customers.

 

As a Facilities Manager you will have a role that is out of the ordinary, where you will lead and manage both pre-planned, reactive and upgrades to hard and soft FM services to enable a safe, functional, comfortable, clean, and sustainable environment for the QinetiQ community, now and into the future. 

 

Day-to-day you will;

 

  • Ensure operations teams are effectively sized
  • Develop employee engagement and empower others
  • Oversee budget and financial management
  • Manage contractors – Covering logistical, financial and regulatory aspects
  • Provide appropriate input and advice to Project Teams and Trial Test Readiness Reviews
  • Customer satisfaction and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Shaping the Site strategy and organisation to be ready for the future including supporting QinetiQ’s Net Zero target

 

This is a full-time role, based onsite at Boscombe Down, Wiltshire.

 

Essential experience of the Facilities Manager

  • Experience in scheduling, planning and overseeing routine maintenance, hard and soft including lifting and shifting, cleaning and grounds maintenance operations ensuring they are compliant.
  • Budgeting and financial management experience
  • Organise manage and monitor resources, risks and issues.
  • Resilient with exemplary stakeholder management skills, able to communicate with conviction and manage conflict
  • A natural leader with experience of managing large teams and passionate about improving employee engagement and inspiring others

 

Qualifications for the Facilities Manager

Degree in a relevant engineering discipline, desirable but not essential -  we don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience athen we would like to hear from you.
