Flight Systems Senior Engineer

The Flight Systems capability conducts hazard based Evaluation & Test of Mechanical and Integrated Power Systems on a wide variety of aircraft platforms, covering Air Support, Combat Air, Helicopter and Un-manned Airborne Systems to ensure the equipment and systems are safe for flight, as well as being fit for purpose.

 

Role

A Senior Engineer is responsible for the efficient, safe and effective conduct of specific evaluation, test and / or trial activities. In the main, this will typically encompass Air platform Certification, Qualification, Performance and Operability domains, where Senior Engineers will provide specialist scientific or technical advice and consultation.  These tasks require solution definition effort and will be delivered in an Integrated Capture and / or Delivery Team in accordance with the associate Project Delivery Plan. The role requires expertise within a discipline, probably within a specialised field, with individuals providing technical guidance and direction for his/her area of specialisation. The individual influences decisions through advice, counsel or facilitating services to others in area of specialisation, such that the work and performance of all teams within the area will be directly and positively affected by the performance of the job.  At the Senior Level it is expected that the applicant will be a Skilled Aeronautical Engineer, with a high level of demonstrable experience and knowledge in the domain of Evaluation and Test.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • A first degree in Science or Engineering;
  • CEng. or equivalent, and
  • 6 - 8 years relevant experience in Aerospace engineering, associated with the Tier 2 competence


OR an equivalent, nationally recognised, professional qualification [HNC or HND], with typically over 12 years of further on the job experience and growth of key skills, working in the domain and backed up with a demonstrable track record of achievement;

 

Highly Desirable Experience: A400M, Apache, Chinook, F35, Merlin and / or Typhoon.
