The Role
As a Grounds Maintenance Operative you will support the grounds maintenance support and services in support of operations and general grounds maintenance.
Day-to-day, you will deliver a wide variety of specialist grounds services ensuring the standards and quality of work are delivered to the required level.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining grounds knowledge, awareness, land legislative standards and developments
- Providing grounds maintenance support and services
- Ensuring the robust application of health, safety and environmental procedures
- Identifying and ensuring all key assets are available and appropriately maintained making recommendations on improvements
- Delivering specialist grounds services including attention to pest and tree hazards
- The prioritisation of work programmes to satisfy business needs
Essential experience of the Grounds Maintenance Operative:
- The ability to be proactive, driven and enthusiastic
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills
- The ability to organise and prioritise work
- The ability to thrive as part of time and work independently where appropriate
- Proven ability to solve problems and safely deploy equipment/processes
- Previous experience in a similar role
Essential qualifications for the Grounds Maintenance Operative:
- Full driving licence

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Boscombe Down site. This role is fully on-site.
MOD Boscombe Down is a unique operational site featuring the longest military runway in the UK. Primarily focusing on providing testing, evaluation and support services for aviation and aerospace systems. Renowned for its extensive flight testing capabilities the site plays a vital role in the UK’s aviation defence contributing to the development, testing and airworthiness of military aircraft enhancing operational readiness and effectiveness.
