About the role:

 

We are seeking Human Factors Consultants to join our Human Protection and Performance capability. We are recruiting for posts in the following teams: Aircrew Systems Integration; Human Behaviour & Systems; and Human Factors Architecting, Modelling & Systems. These teams are based at Boscombe Down, Farnborough, Malvern, and Portsmouth. We support hybrid (office and home) working.

 

We provide research, consultancy, test & evaluation, and advice in a number of areas in defence and security, including autonomy, human factors engineering, usability, human cognition, command and control, cyber, and behaviour change. We work across the Land, Air, Maritime, and Joint domains.

 

We work on projects of national importance, and are recognised for our expertise, including winning the 2020 Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors President’s Award for “an outstanding contribution to the development of the ergonomics and human factors”.

 

What I will be doing:

 

The successful Human Factors Consultant or Psychologist will lead and support a number of projects as part of a team. This may be from the initial development stages of projects and bids, through to design, analysis, delivery, and writing of final reports and presentations. This may involve assessing compliance with standards, conducting field trials, carrying out experiments, or desk-based research.

 

For our Aircrew Systems Integration team you will provide specialist advice in air human factors, in particular in support of recommendations for release to service and airworthiness certification of military aircraft and aircrew equipment.

 

What do I need?

 

The Human Factors Consultant will need at least ONE of the following:

 

  • Good track record delivering Human Factors Integration (HFI).
  • Military domain experience and a degree in Psychology, Ergonomics, or a closely related discipline.
  • Chartership status—or working towards Chartership status--with the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF) or British Psychological Society (BPS).
