Rotary Wing Avionic Aircraft Technician

Avionic Technician (Rotary Wing).

 

The primary purpose of the job is to ensure that aircraft/equipment maintenance/aircraft installations and other related tasks are carried out safely, efficiently and to quality in accordance with regulatory and corporate procedures. To do this, the post holder ensures competency is at the required standard. The post holder carries out their assigned tasks as directed by the Task Manager under appropriate Supervision and in accordance with good Health, Safety and Environmental practice.

 

Whilst maintaining competency on a range of aircraft types you will work to a flexible contract to meet the ever changing demand and could also be detached to QinetiQ/Customer sites other than Boscombe Down.  Candidate will on a flexible working hours contract. 

 

Key Accountabilities

•    Ensuring that aircraft/equipment maintenance/aircraft installations and other related tasks within candidates trade group are carried out efficiently and to quality in accordance with regulatory and corporate procedures
•    Ensuring that competencies are at the required standard
•    Carrying out assigned tasks as directed by the Task Manager and in accordance with the planned schedule of work
•    Ensuring that appropriate Supervisor authority is sought for progression of tasks being conducted
•    Ensuring that aircraft/equipment paperwork accurately reflects the physical state of the aircraft/equipment at the end of each working day
•    Ensuring Candidate is familiar with all policies, procedures relevant to tasks being conducted
•    Appropriately delivering authorised 1st signature responsibilities
•    Carrying out comprehensive progress inspections and certification of work where appropriate to signatory level
•    Compliance with authorised tool control procedures
•    Operation of Aircraft Ground Equipment and Hangar facilities as appropriate and as directed
•    Aircraft refuelling/defueling as authorised and directed
•    Conducting aircraft movements and handling within the hangar & dispersal areas under appropriate supervision
•    Aircraft marshalling as directed
•    Preparation of aircraft for flight & securing aircraft after flight, including checks for correct fitment of blanks, safety pins and gags etc. Assistance with aircraft role changes as required

 

Key Capabilities/Knowledge

•    Good knowledge and comprehensive understanding of processes, procedures and systems to be used in carrying out assigned tasking
•    Qualification courses, (as required), on aircraft/equipment type or associated systems
•    Good fault identification and isolation skills
•    Good team working and communications skills
•    Computer literacy and familiarity with specific aircraft maintenance systems as required

 

Experience & Qualifications

•    Must have served a recognised aeronautical engineering apprenticeship or Service equivalent trade training
•    NVQ in engineering, or equivalent
•    Qualification courses, (as required), on aircraft/equipment type or associated systems
•    Engineering Technician status or relevant aircraft technical experience (3 years plus)
