The Role:
QinetiQ’s Naval Architecture team delivers consultancy services to the MoD as well as international defence and commercial customers. Hydrodynamic problem solving forms a significant part of the project work. The focus of the team is in the surface ship and submarine hydrodynamic subject area, including propulsors and propellers, manoeuvring and control, dynamic and quasi-static stability, seakeeping and resistance. The wider group also includes design and assessment of structures and Maritime Life Support.
This opportunity is for a Naval Architect to join our technical team. The primary focus of the job will be to support the delivery of technical projects to the MoD. The role requires an excellent understanding of Naval Architecture principles and the ability to use that knowledge, together with sound engineering judgement, to solve our customer’s important problems.
Day-to-day, you’ll be:
- Working collaboratively to ensure the customers’ requirements are met and providing innovative solutions to their problems
- Breaking down complex tasks and then executing the planned schedule of work
- Ensuring the work is conducted in a safe manner, highlighting hazards and potentially unsafe practices to Team Lead
- Actively participating and encouraging increased collaboration across the team
Essential experience of the Naval Architect:
- You must have experience in the Naval Architecture field

This role is full-time, 37 hours per week at our Bristol or Gosport site, with hybrid working available.
