We are looking for highly motivated IT Engineers and Subject Matter Experts with various levels of experience to join an exciting programme building critical, deployable IT infrastructure within the Defence environment.

This opportunity will place you at the heart of the modernisation of UK Defence’s deployable IT estate, supporting customers who are building IT infrastructure using agile methods.

You will be involved in designing, building, testing and maintaining the deployable and operational IT systems that Defence requires. We are especially keen to find individuals with experience of Enterprise IT virtualisation technologies, Windows server/ WINTEL and Cisco network products.

 

Opportunities for mid-career IT professionals

If you’re a mid-career professional working in an industry outside of Defence & Security or within the Armed Forces, you’ll be applying your expertise immediately. You may be working on:

  • IT server virtualisation,
  • Scripting and Automating the deployment of server builds,
  • Network design and delivery
  • IT Testing and Integrated Trials.

 

Whatever your specialism or background, you can expect ongoing development to help you excel and advance.  This includes expert training and mentoring, with increased emphasis on self-development and on-the-job training. 

 

Opportunities for highly experienced IT Professionals

As a senior IT Professional, we can provide you with demanding and rewarding leadership roles on high value and operationally focussed IT networks with our Defence customer’s projects.  This will give you the opportunity to have a major impact in support of the MoD Defence Digital Strategy, creating and delivering some of the core components of MoD’s digital backbone.

 

You may be engaging senior stakeholders across the business and customer landscape, shaping, driving and enabling strategic direction or you may be in a position to maintain and develop a deep SQEP (Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person) within your technical domain. 

You could be required to deliver IT Solution Architecture and Technical Roadmapping or IT network and system design & development.

 

You can expect specialist training and targeted mentoring to develop specific technical skills. If you have senior management potential, we’ll spot and nurture it.

Progressing to these more senior roles will come with an expectation that you be an active member of an appropriate professional body allowing you to join our Fellowship scheme which recognises and develops professionals with high-level, specialist technical expertise.

 

For the more senior roles, you should be prepared to travel to our customer site at MOD Corsham on a frequent basis to support project delivery. You may also be required to travel to QinetiQ sites (Portsmouth, Bristol, Malvern) on occasion.

 

Your knowledge, skills, traits and experience

Ideally candidates will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) within a Computing or IT related subject, or have related IT service and delivery experience including;

  • Enterprise VMware products; and/or
  • Cisco Networking; and/or
  • Windows server/ WINTEL; and/or
  • LINUX platforms.

 

You may already have achieved professional qualifications such as MCSA, MCSE, CCNA/P, MCITP, CISSP, VCP, ITIL or you may wish to work towards such qualifications.

 

You will have a proactive approach to problem solving and be a self-motivated team member that takes ownership of tasking whilst operating collaboratively within a dynamic team.

 

You will have a flexible approach to tasking, working to customer priorities and using scaled agile delivery methods.
