The Role

As a Technical Authority - RF and EW you will have a role that is out of the ordinary. You will join our highly technical multi-disciplined enthusiastic engineers and project managers delivering the Systems Engineering aspects of identified Systems, Subordinate Systems & Components for projects across the IDT. 

 

The projects under this IDT span a diverse range, from pure research through to product development and deployment. Recent projects include specification, development and delivery of; underwater signature measurement ranges, radar cross section measurement systems, high security classification networks, databases, specialist test systems and electronic warfare test systems.
 

Day-to-day, you will be responsible for:

  • Setting the technical strategy including the Product Roadmaps for the portfolio and delivering against challenging objectives in line with the Integrated Strategic Business Plan (ISBP)
  • Building and retaining strong relationships with customers, partners and colleagues at senior management levels to support the growth and successful delivery
  • Forming and leading a team of Engineering Delivery Managers, System Design Authorities and Product Owners from across the company. Success will depend on your ability to excite and motivate efficient and effective teams to deliver quality outcomes for new and existing customers
  • Setting the definition of technical maturation and progression tracking against requirements in support of the objectives of delivering to time, cost and quality

 

Essential experience of the Technical Authority - RF and EW:

  • Previous experience in managing multiple multi-disciplinary teams across a number of remote sites
  • Allocation, co-ordination and maturation tracking of work within a portfolio of projects
  • Strong commercial awareness; has a good knowledge of how an IDT and portfolio contributes to the business and a good understanding of competitors
  • Experience in managing successful sub-contracts to time, cost and quality
  • Previous experience of delivering complex systems and products


Qualifications for the Technical Authority - RF and EW:

  • A degree in Science or Engineering, or an equivalent, nationally recognised, professional qualification, with extensive on the job experience and growth of key skills, working in the domain and backed up with a tangible track record of achievement
  • A full clean UK driving licence

This role is a full-time permanent position, 37 hours per week with hybrid and flexible working options. Some travel is involved which will include Range visits and multi (UK) site working and collaboration with partner teams and companies.

 

Portsmouth Technology Park (PTP) is one of QinetiQ’s key facilities, focusing on advanced technology development and engineering services. It is dedicated to research and development, ensuring that complex systems are designed, integrated, and tested effectively to meet operational requirements. The facility utilises sophisticated modelling and simulation techniques to analyse and predict performance.
