The Role

As an Aviation Trials Management Officer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. QinetiQ is seeking an experienced systems engineer, aviator or aerospace professional to join our team embedded within 41 Test and Evaluation Sqn (TES) at RAF Coningsby. The successful candidate will have experience in aviation, aerospace engineering, assessment or test and evaluation (T&E). Ideally, they will also have experience of fast jet operations or synthetic T&E. They will be working alongside RAF and other industry personnel to support Typhoon trial activities and the wider Typhoon development programme.


In this exciting and challenging role, the incumbent will be part of a growing team of experts who influence the way that mission systems are developed for, and operated by, the RAF’s Typhoon aircraft. They will interact with a range of stakeholders, including MOD and industry partners to deliver successful outcomes for the Typhoon programme.

 

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Manage the design, planning, execution and reporting of Typhoon flight and ground trials.
  • Provide leadership and a technical interface between SMEs to facilitate the safe, effective and efficient delivery of Typhoon trials.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for increased collaboration and efficiency in T&E for the benefit of the Typhoon programme and the MOD customer.
  • Provide high-level stakeholder engagement, including with MoD and industry partners in the Typhoon programme, to deliver successful test outcomes.
  • Represent QinetiQ as part of the team embedded within the Typhoon Squadron.
     

This role is a full-time position based at RAF Coningsby 5 days a week.
 

Essential experience of the Aviation Trials Management Officer:

  • A genuine interest in aviation, reflected in previous experience throughout your career.
  • Demonstrable technical leadership experience and an understanding of aircraft weapon and avionics systems.
  • An understanding of the conduct of test and evaluation.
  • The ability to analyse complex systems: to consider a system and/or problem and derive the key aspects requiring attention, thereby assuring focussed application of effort.

 

Qualifications for the Aviation Trials Management Officer:

  • A relevant degree (such as aerospace or systems engineering) or equivalent experience is essential.
  • We are seeking an innovative self-starter who is driven to deliver great results.
  • Experience in the conduct of technical evaluations is highly desirable, together with a willingness to challenge, refine and improve existing ways of delivering T&E.
