QinetiQ are looking for a Systems Engineer to join the Maritime Test, Evaluation, Training and Tactics team and assist in the technical activities to integrate new and existing noise ranging systems at the Range facilities in Scotland, as well as providing advice that will directly impact defence operations.

The role would suit engineers with an interest in systems engineering, underwater acoustics and requirements management, with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Solution/service and system architecture
  • Underwater hardware
  • Acoustic signal processing
  • Test and integration or range activities
  • Equipment delivery
  • Equipment calibration and test

Job Specification

What Will I Be Doing?


  • Supporting a range of project stakeholders in the ongoing management and implementation of requirements best practice.
  • Collaborating with project teams as a solution develops to ensure its continuing compliance to requirements.
  • Managing complex requirement sets and supporting their relationship to system architecture and design
  • Reviewing and judging the suitability of requirements management plans.
  • Reviewing and judging the suitability and completeness of the requirements set.
  • Planning and preparing evidence for customer acceptance and certification.
  • Identification of, and reporting back on, additional customer business opportunities.
  • Acknowledged as an authority in the elicitation and management of requirements.




We are seeking skills in one or more of the following areas:

  • Requirements management
  • Requirements Definition
  • Systems Engineering / Model Based Systems Engineering
  • System Architecture
  • Testing and Integration, particularly in military environments
  • Agile methodologies


  • Degree in maths, physics, computer science, electronics or relevant engineering discipline OR
  • Demonstration of relevant engineering experience



  • Requirements Engineering experience
  • Understanding of the difference between User Requirements, System Requirements and Design Specifications
  • Broad understanding of MOD and industry standard acceptance processes
  • Proficiency in DOORS® use
  • Understanding of good Information Management principles
  • Broad Systems Engineering knowledge
  • Keeps abreast of new knowledge and developments in the field of Requirements Engineering
