Be part of the QinetiQ journey. Join us as an Associate Trials Engineer where you will work in the Weapons Science group, which is part of the Maritime, Land & Weapons area. Within Weapons Science, our teams come from a variety of physics, chemistry, mathematics and related engineering backgrounds. They are critical to providing advice and the assessment of military systems from long range missiles to armoured vehicles. They help our customers ensure that these critical assets perform effectively and enable our Armed Services to fulfil their roles safely.

 

The Role
This is a key role working within our vehicle testing and assessment programme area. These activities occur mainly at the Hurn Proving Ground, which provides a safe area for trials of systems and vehicles over representative terrains and obstacles that might be encountered in service. 

 

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Ensure that customers requirements and tasks are fully understood and that problems and issues are reliably identified at the outset
  • Support programmes using a thorough understanding of vehicle testing and measurement techniques, in particular the application of instrumentation to capture accurate vehicle data (e.g. Noise & Vibration exposure, vehicle performance, etc.)
  • Provide a methodical and thorough approach to the recording and reporting of data obtained during vehicle trials and assessments
  • Support business winning by contributing to technical proposal documents and cost estimating activities
  • Provide support to the wider team over a variety of different tasks, including safety over watch, test and evaluation, research studies and facility maintenance and support

 

This role is full-time, 37 hours per week where you will be on site at Farnborough or our Hurn site.
 
Experience of the Associate Trials Engineer:

  • Demonstrable experience using MATLAB or Python
  • Sound understanding of IT equipment and the use of Microsoft Office software
  • Knowledge of data analysis, programming techniques and coding is desirable
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and analytical team working skills
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills

 

Qualifications of the Associate Trials Engineer:

  • An engineering or science qualification at a degree level or an equivalent, nationally recognised, professional qualification
  • A full UK driving licence is essential and prepared to travel to Hurn on a daily basis when required
