Role Purpose

 

To lead the growth of the Intelligence Solutions business by creating a cross-cutting capability and QQ business alignment to ISTAR and complex information systems integration: supporting and developing our people, and creating impactful cross-cutting offerings for our customers in the MOD.

 

Reporting to the Managing Director, Digital Intelligence, you will be accountable for managing on-contract delivery, shaping the digital growth strategy, as well as identifying and capturing new opportunities in line with the growth strategy. You will need to create links and develop relationships across QQ businesses, functions and subsidiaries to ensure that the Intelligence Solutions capability supports the business and drives coherent offerings.

 

This role has the opportunity to evolve QQ’s approach to ISTAR for MOD, in line with their defence strategy, being central and influential to investment and opportunity decision making, and delivering at pace in a rapidly evolving environment, leveraging the broader QQ expertise.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Leading and growing the Intelligence Solutions business to >£60m (revenue) by FY30, with project margins > 12%
  • Working with QQ functions (HR, Technical, PMO etc.) and external suppliers to develop and harness the necessary skills needed to deliver business to our customers
  • Working with technical and BD to develop the Intelligence Solutions strategy to support pipeline growth to 3x revenue for qualified opportunities
  • Working across the QQ organisation to maintain existing and develop new customer relationships and increase the importance of QQ to our customers, executing capture plans to deliver further strategic programmes
  • Working with other Integreted Delivery Teams, business units and sectors to join up QQ capability and offerings for the benefit of our customers and other QQ businesses
  • Working with Ops and other functions to ensure that the business has the facilities and services it needs to deliver for our customers
  • Applying robust governance to the IDT’s delivery, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction, compliance, managing risk (commercial, delivery) and ensuring best practice is applied to safety and security practices
  • Delivery of the ISP including all yearly financial targets for orders, revenue, margin, operating profit and cash
  • Develop appropriate investment plans to build the required capabilities to achieve the business vision
  • Annual production of a 5-year Order Intake Scenario (OIS) aligned to the ISP, and a detailed plan to deliver the 1st year of the OIS
  • Maintenance of up-to-date forecasts (both financial and resource demand) for all IDT sales, contracted customer work and approved investment funding
  • Developing the team to its full potential via talent and succession planning, PeakOn engagement, training, coaching, mentoring and strong performance management. Leading the embedding of improvements in the P3M capabilities within the IDT
  • Ensuring IDT members operate in line with the Business Management System and functional management requirements; and have appropriate personal goals recorded and progressed
  • Role-modelling senior leadership behaviour across all elements of the Enterprise Leadership framework, with particular focus on safety, security and ESG
  • Responsibility for teams in Malvern/Bristol/Farnborough and deployed at our customer’s locations

  • Provenance in building and developing cross-functional teams to deliver business outcomes
  • Market awareness – understanding the market in which the business operates, including competition, suppliers, customer base and the regulatory environment
  • People and Organisation – developing the long-term skills and capabilities required of our P3M, Business Winning and Technical teams, to deliver and grow the IDT’s business
  • Ability to work autonomously, navigate complex organisations successfully, and self-grow the role to meet the business’ strategic direction
  • Security awareness – UK MOD DV clearance (or the ability to secure it) is required

 

Experience & Qualifications

 

  • Financial literacy to the extent of being able to run a P&L effectively
  • Significant team leadership experience, coupled with strong communication skills
  • Experience in developing and executing strategic business plans, driven by well-understood customer needs
  • Ability to engage credibly in technical/operational discussion around problems and solutions with customers and team members
  • Evidence of positive engagement with, and management of, senior customers and other senior stakeholders
  • Credible experience and understanding of how running a product-focused IDT might different from running other IDTs
