IT Operations Engineer (Desktop)

We have an opportunity for an  IT Operations Engineer (Desktop) at our Farnborough site.

The role is varied and will include a number of different elements.

 

Field Support:

  • Manage site surveys and pre-installation discoveries prior to the installation of new managed services.
  • Support pre-sales technical demonstrations as required.
  • Responsible for technical early life support requirements on all new managed services
  • Produce all support and pre-installation documentation where appropriate


Systems Maintenance

  • Manage those Reference Facilities that support Systems Maintenance.
  • Respond to escalated incidents and problems and change requests to ensure the timely update of the company's Service Management ticketing system.
  • Act as the System Design Authority and respond where appropriate to escalated incidents and problems and change requests to ensure the timely update of the company's Service Management ticketing system


Service Management

  • Manage the company's response to escalated incidents and investigate remedial action and any preventative maintenance requirements regarding future occurrences.
  • Effective Problem Management and support of Continual Service Improvement Planning (CSIP) development and delivery. The production of Root Cause Analysis reporting.


System Installation:

  • Build, install and configure managed ICT services in line with the company's product set and customer requirements.
  • Manage the technical day to day relationship with internal customer service teams and 3Prd party supplier interfaces - 2nd & 3rd line desktop support to enterprise users
  • Building and delivery of new desktop/laptop hardware & peripherals
  • Supporting Audio Video (AV) and Video Conferencing (VC) facilities
  • Surveying and quoting for new installations
  • Field data/voice cabinet construction
  • Working with and supervising sub-contractors, as required
  • Corporate mobile devices
  • Managing of the helpdesk call system tickets (Resolve)
  • Management of ITAMS (IT asset management system)
  • Ensure configuration management is maintained.
  • Carry out field Installation Moves and Changes (IMACS) of the voice/data network.
  • Work on IP CCTV & Alarm integrations
  • Fault diagnosis/fix of corporate and standalone PC systems and peripherals
  • Remotely assist network management teams with “remote hands” for fault diagnosis/fix of the corporate data & voice networks and cabling infrastructure.
  • Effective working relationships with operational teams and internal customers
  • Ensuring compliance with QinetiQ policies, procedures and work instructions
  • To undertake other duties as directed by the Team Lead.

Equivalent Accreditations and qualifications to include, but not limited to:

  • ITIL V4  foundation certificate
  • CNIT(certified network Infrastructure Technician) or equivalent
  • Microsoft Certified IT Professional or equivalent experience. (MCITP)
  • Comptia Network +
  • Comptia A+
