The Role
As the Marketing & Communications Manager for UK Defence (UKD), you will lead the planning and delivery of integrated marketing and communications for the sector, which represents 60% of the QinetiQ Group.
Working to the Head of Marketing and Communications for UKD, the successful candidate will work closely with colleagues from across the Group Marketing and Communications team to support QinetiQ’s business priorities, highlighting core capabilities across Research and Development, Engineering Services, Test and Training and Mission Support and Operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying opportunities to promote the work and the people of our UKD Sector
- Creating and implementing integrated marketing and communications plans that help tell the story of QinetiQ’s critical role supporting defence and security
- Being a trusted advisor, providing support and guidance on marketing and communications activity that aligns to business winning/captures
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the MarComms and wider Corporate Affairs function to ensure alignment of messaging to key audiences
- Develop engaging content for use across internal and external channels and to support UKD’s presence at events aligned to business priorities
Essential skills and experience of the Marketing & Communications Manager:
- Excellent communicator with good writing skills
- Integrated marketing and communications experience, with good content creation skills across digital and social media platforms
- Team player who’s willing to work collaboratively across different groups to ensure consistency and alignment
- A high level of organisational ability and experience of working independently to effectively manage multiple projects and take decisions quickly
- Ability to distil complex messaging and jargon into relatable language that resonates well with target audiences (customers/investors/employees/media)
- Experience of complex stakeholder management and comfortable working with and influencing senior internal stakeholders and key external customers
- Ability to work at pace with attention to detail - comfortable delivering at pace and under pressure
- A background in technology or defence would be advantageous

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Farnborough, Portsmouth or Amesbury. Hybrid working patterns are available. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
