About the role

QinetiQ is currently recruiting a Materials Scientist to be based in Farnborough on a permanent basis.

 

We are seeking an experienced Materials Scientist for our Advanced Services and Products team. This role supports key innovation and technology programmes for Global R&D in the field of advanced materials and devices.

What do I need?

 

  • The Materials Scientist must have expertise in ceramics area and ceramics processing.
  • It is desirable that you also have Leadership experience.

 

Please note that all applicants must be eligible for SC clearance as a minimum.

 

What will I be doing?

 

  • The Materials Scientist will support, lead and drive R&D initiatives/ projects by designing/ selecting advanced materials such as ceramics, metals, 2D materials, thin films, particles etc. from the initial concept stage to production. Projects are executed in-house and in collaboration with research institutions or suppliers. Furthermore the role may require assisting collaborators in optimising manufacture and processing.
  • You will drive the development of new work and research opportunities and generation of new business.
  • The Materials Scientist will set-up and maintain strategic R&D collaborations supporting key QinetiQ technology development initiatives.
  • You will evaluate and test new materials and technology concepts at QinetiQ's laboratories and when necessary at 3rd party labs and facilities. This involves component performance tests and material characterisation evaluation using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM, FTIR and XRD among others).
