The Role:

 

The role of Simulation Systems Engineer sits within our Cyber, Analysis and Mission Solutions discipline. We support our customers in the development of modelling, simulation and synthetic environments, future technology application, delivered through a variety of research, concept development and prototyping tools and techniques.

 

We are seeking Systems Engineers who can lead a variety of programmes that are largely in support of Simulation and Synthetic Environment System Development. We are looking for people with proven experience of working to a high standard within the Defence Sector, spanning full lifecycle development activities within the MOD Acquisition Lifecycle, on complex capability projects.

 

Tasks include:

  • Developing and presenting analytical approaches and subsequent research evidence to scrutiny and assurance bodies;
  • Leading multi-disciplinary teams in delivering projects;
  • Conducting research options analysis using approaches such as, but not limited to, Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA);
  • Facilitating workshops and eliciting data and information from different stakeholders;
  • Presenting your research outcomes to a range of decision makers;
  • Writing technical reports (including white papers, research papers, project reports and business cases)

 

Experience and Skills:

  • Have demonstrable experience in using a range of research and development methods, tools and techniques including literature studies, workshop facilitation and low TRL engineering prototype development;
  • Demonstrable experience of systems engineering and an understanding of enterprise architecture;
  • Demonstrable experience of managing your tasks or leading small teams contributing to the successful delivery of complex projects;
  • Have a strong proven record of project and or technical delivery with experience of contributing towards coherent and successful teams;
  • Be able to interpret and understand client requirements, ideally within the Defence Sector: to include DE&S, Front Line Commands and Research Communities;
  • Possess an awareness and appreciation of MOD operating doctrine;
  • Understand and have working knowledge of how technology, is explored, adapted and developed to model equipment, environments and operational scenarios in Defence.

 

As a Research Consultant, you will be required to demonstrate the ability to deliver:

  • A consistent approach to exploring a problem space
  • Constant application of research process;
  • Consistency in your approach and delivery of research;
  • Confidence in presenting your research outputs; and
  • Retention of corporate research and development know-how.
