RaCS (SEIT) System Engineer

This role is for a System engineer within the System Engineering Integration and Test Team.  


Within the team, which is responsible for the, design evaluation, integration and testing of RaCS systems.  Assisting in the deployment of software updates. Generating the Verification Compliance Reference Index (VCRI document) and assisting in collating the verification evidence provided by the verification activities.  Additionally capturing defects/observations, cataloguing and reporting on compliance as well as capturing commentary that needs to be clearly communicated to acceptance reviews.


You will be responsible for supporting the team to ensure that the technical requirements of the system are correctly identified, documented and managed.  Enabling the team to demonstrate that it meets its contractual obligations. 


This requires attention to detail and experience in the production of verification evidence and compliance management to assist the presentation of evidence, status and consequences to a broad stakeholder group. You will further your experience as a systems engineer; including use of DOORS, excel, PPT and ideally the ability to read Sys ML artefacts, such as sequence diagrams.  You will be testing the RaCS system as per test documentation which you will provide to the lead engineer.


The RaCS project is part of the wider Maritime Training, Tactics, Test and Evaluation Transformation (MT3ET) IDT which provides solutions to the various parts of the MOD in the sub surface, surface and air environments as well as to customers both inside and outside of UK government. These projects span a diverse range, from pure research through to product development and deployment. Recent projects include specification, development and delivery of; underwater signature measurement ranges, radar cross section measurement systems, high security classification networks and databases, specialist test systems and electronic warfare test systems. 

This role offers the opportunity to get involved and help deliver the solution, across the whole lifecycle from feasibility to acceptance with challenging and unique engineering projects. Some travel is involved; which will include Range visits and multi (UK) site working and collaboration with partner teams and companies.

Responsibilities & Output

You will be working with experienced systems engineers and SME’s therefore this is a well-supported opportunity to develop and practice systems engineering skills.

  • Adhering to the plans prepared by the Lead Engineer and providing suggested improvements;
  • Developing test strategy’s
  • Using DOORS to reflect traceability and status as directed by the Lead Engineer;
  • Capture of test evidence;
  • Assisting in the preparation of documentation for sign off including the Acceptance Evidence Document;
  • Assisting in the production of Tracking Problem Reports;
  • Assisting in the updating of the verification and compliance matrix;
  • Assisting in the preparation of evidence packs for Assurance Events and other reviews as required by the Lead Engineer;
  • Assisting in the analysis of data and production of Short Technical Notes presenting evidence;
  • Assisting in the presentation of evidence to stakeholders in preparation for and during Acceptance Working Groups.



  • Security clearance (UK National)
  • Ability to gain DV
  • Good communication skills;
  • Ability to work methodically within a team;
  • Knowledge and experience of requirements management processes and tools, such as DOORS.

• An understanding of validation & verification, or test and acceptance, activities and processes.



• Domain knowledge desirable
