The Role

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you’ll have a role that is out of the ordinary. You will support the Head of IT Services and the UK Shared Services function in the delivery of IT Platform and Domain Services to QinetiQ.

Day-to-day, you’ll work within the UK Shared Services team, providing support and subject matter expertise to the IT Services function and delivering planned or requested activities, which will depend on the requirements of the individual task to effectively deliver high-quality services to our customers. 

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing operational, service support during incident and problem management activities related directly to their area of expertise
• Developing, planing and assisting in the deployment of new technologies and enhancements to existing systems
• Assisting in the service transition of new technologies and services into operational support
• Assisting in developing solutions and services aligned with QinetiQ’s strategies and requirements
• Maintaining a level of knowledge on new technologies sufficient to understand their applicability to our customer base and to implement and support them

This role is 37 hours per week based at any of our main UK locations.

Essential experience of the Senior Platform Engineer:

• Extensive experience of enterprise-level IT systems
• Strong experience with Azure Cloud systems
• Experience in administering Linux Operating Systems including CentOS and Redhat advantageous
• Knowledge and practical application experience around IT Security Standards
• Knowledge of ISO 27001
• Ability to engage with a cross-section of technical and non-technical stakeholders
