The Role
As a Senior Programme Manager within our Science and Technology division you will play an integral part in the development of some of QinetiQ’s most exciting and advanced products. You will be fully responsible and accountable for understanding and delivering the programme vision, objectives and benefits in a complex environment.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll lead and motivate Project Managers withing the programme, ensuring teams are collaborating effectively, and be accountable for overall programme performance throughout the lifecycle ensuring successful delivery to our customers.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Integrated Planning – Shaping and structuring the programme to accomplish the vision by ensuring the related projects are equipped with the appropriate Project Management Plans (PMPs) and have secured the relevant resources to deliver within scope, quality, time and budget
  • Budget & Cost Control - Working closely with the Portfolio Office to ensure programme controls are in place and accurate and timely performance information is available
  • Risk & Issue Management – Proactively, identify and assess risks at programme level, plan and implement responses to those risks and respond to issues that affect the programme
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Fostering a collaborative approach. Engage, influence and collaborate with all stakeholders (internal, including Finance, Commercial, People, Enterprise Services, Portfolio Office, Technical & Supply Chain and external), ensuring on-going commitment
  • Requirements Management - Capture, assess and justify stakeholders wants and needs to satisfy the identified programme needs and benefits

 

Essential experience of the Senior Programme Manager

  • Extensive experience of working within project teams and managing complex programmes
  • Demonstrable experience managing programmes valued between £10 – 100 million
  • Previous experience in complex, multidisciplinary environments
  • Detailed knowledge of lifecycles and recognised as an expert

 

Essential qualifications for the Senior Programme Manager:

  • APM PMQ, ChPP, PMI PgMP or AIPM CPPD, Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) Foundation & Practitioner or demonstrate working towards equivalent certification from accredited body.

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Farnborough site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
