The Role

As a Senior System (Integration Test) Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering complex system integration and testing activities supporting the Maritime T3E programme, helping ensure critical capabilities are successfully integrated, tested and delivered into service.

Day‑to‑day, you’ll work closely with technical leads, project managers and a wide range of engineering teams to integrate software, hardware and firmware onto computing infrastructure, supporting test and evaluation activities at BUTEC (British Underwater Test and Evaluation Centre) and the Farnborough reference facility.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Owning through‑life integration of software, hardware and firmware across complex systems and environments
  • Leading and executing integration and test activities at component, system and user levels
  • Acting as a technical bridge between engineering teams, project management and external stakeholders
  • Investigating and resolving integration defects, providing root cause, impact assessment and recommended solutions
  • Developing and executing test plans and mentoring junior engineers
  • Producing high‑quality engineering documentation including designs, test plans and technical reports

 

 

Essential experience of the Senior System (Integration Test) Engineer:

  • Experience in system integration and test within complex or safety‑critical environments
  • Strong hands‑on testing experience including writing and executing test plans
  • Ability to fault‑find across integrated systems and manage defects to resolution
  • Experience working across multi‑discipline engineering teams
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills and technical credibility
  • Ability to work independently or embedded within other engineering teams

 

Essential qualifications for the Senior System (Integration Test) Engineer:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Relevant professional engineering experience

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Farnborough site, with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. Travel to BUTEC and other QinetiQ or customer sites will be required.
